Composting food scraps at your house or apartment can become an easy habit. Follow these easy steps!
1. Choose A Container
Use the free pail that comes with your service or choose your own. To request a pail, fill out Recology’s form.

To reduce mess, you can line your pail with paper bags, newspaper or even used paper towels. For more composting tips and tricks click here.
2. Collect Food Scraps & Food/Beverage Paper Products
Trimmings from cooking, leftover scraps after eating, and spoiled food are accepted. Be sure to separate food from packaging and containers. Paper napkins, plates and packaging are ok.

3. Take It Out!
If you live in a single-family home, empty your pail into your compost cart and set it out at the curb.
If you live in an apartment or condo, take your pail to your trash area and empty it into your building’s compost cart.

4. Clean Your Pail
Pails are dishwasher safe or can be washed by hand.
