Home Composting Workshop

Learn how easy and fun it is to recycle your fruit and vegetable scraps, leaves, and plant trimmings into compost in this free workshop! These workshops teach many composting options, including 3-bin, vermiculture and grasscycling, suitable for those with or without a backyard.
Compost provides valuable nutrients for your garden soil, helps retain moisture, which saves water, prevents erosion, loosens clay and compacted soils for better drainage, and suppresses weeds.
All registered participants will receive a $25 coupon on composting supplies and a sample Compost Starter mix upon completion of the class.
Co-Presenter Master Gardener and Master Composter Norine Cepernich Norine Cepernich has actively followed organic gardening practices for over 20 years. She grows year round edibles and diverse cover crops, always keeping soil health in mind.
Co-Presenter Master Gardener and Master Composter Gaye Torjusen. Gaye Torjusen has been an active composter and vegetable grower for over 40 years. Her current passion is improving soil biology.

Directions: To arrive at the site do not go to the Event Center pay parking off of Saratoga. Enter from S. Delaware St. going toward the Jockey Club. After you enter the parking lot, drive immediately to the left where you will see a green lawn and large eucalyptus trees and the UC Master Gardener Gardening Education Center.
